Gate Valve

Gate Valve

Gate valves work by inserting a rectangular gate or wedge into the path of a flowing fluid. They are operated by a threaded stem which connects the actuator (generally a hand wheel or motor) to the stem of the gate.Fully open, a gate valve has no obstruction in the flow path and so has a very low pressure drop. Gate valves require very little space along the pipe axis and hardly restrict the flow of fluid when the gate is fully opened. The gate faces can be parallel but are most commonly wedge-shaped.
Globe Valve

Globe Valve

Globe valves are named for their spherical body shape with the two halves of the body being separated by an internal baffle. This has an opening that forms a seat onto which a movable plug can be screwed in to close (or shut) the valve. The plug is also called a disc or disk in globe valves, the plug is connected to a stem which is operated by screw action using a hand wheel in manual valves. Typically, automated globe valves use smooth stems rather than threaded and are opened and closed by an actuator assembly.

A butterfly valve is a type of quarter turn valve. A quarter turn valve can open or close whenever the handle is turned 90 degrees (a quarter of a turn). The main function of these valves is to control the flow of liquids through a section of pipe. Butterfly valves are mainly used in waste treatment systems.
Ball Valve

Ball Valve

A ball valve is a form of quarter-turn valve which uses a hollow, perforated and pivoting ball to control flow through it. It is open when the ball's hole is in line with the flow and closed when it is pivoted 90-degrees by the valve handle. The handle lies flat in alignment with the flow when open, and is perpendicular to it when closed, making for easy visual confirmation of the valve's status. The shut position 1/4 turn could be in either CW or CCW direction

Diaphragm valves consists of a valve body with two or more ports, an elastomeric diaphragm, and a "weir or saddle" or seat upon which the diaphragm closes the valve. A diaphragm valve is a linear motion valve that is used to start, regulate, and stop fluid flow. The name is derived from its flexible disk, which mates with a seat located in the open area at the top of the valve body to form a seal.

Sluice Valve functions strictly to either start or stop the flow. Sluice gate, knife gate, and slide gate are used interchangeably in the water and wastewater control industry. They are designed to control the flow of fluid through a pipe it works by raising or lowering a wedge that blocks flow.
Air Valve

Air Release Valves, or Air Relief Valve function to release air pockets that collect at each high point of a full pressured pipeline. An air release valve can open against internal pressure, because the internal lever mechanism multiplies the float force to be greater than the internal pressure. Air valves are hydro mechanical devices designed to automatically release air and wastewater gases or admit air during the filling, draining or operation of liquid piping systems for water and wastewater services.
